Moorcroft Limited Edition Whitby Abbey Vase

Moorcroft Limited Edition Whitby Abbey Vase, MCR-060

Originally founded as a studio in 1897 within a large ceramic company, James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft pottery soon made its mark on the world. Today, Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. C W Sellors are proud to present this Moorcroft collection featuring stunning pottery designs inspired by Whitby.

This limited edition vase took inspiration from the picturesque Abbey which overlooks the multi-coloured and charming harbour town.  Perched high on a cliff, it’s easy to see why the haunting remains of Whitby Abbey were inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic tale of ‘Dracula’.  This vase design features the crumbling brickwork and stone boulders, still fighting the pull of gravity. Centuries of weather and war have taken their toll – parts of the abbey church have collapsed during storms, and its west front was hit by German naval shelling in 1914.  Soft, fluffy clouds bring with them a trace of salty sea air while pools of blue water trickle through crags and hillocks. Last one available so please order early to avoid disappointment.
